If you are a person living around Galle in South or a frequent visitor to that area, Sahana Food is the name that comes to mind when you want to have a snack with a cup of tea for a slight hunger. This business started in the 1930's and has been growing and winning the love of people for many generations and they were at the top of the Galle area as leaders in this field. So, let's talk about this success story of Sahana Food's with its Managing Partner Mr. Saman Wewalwala.

1. Firstly, let's talk about your business, shall we?

Sahana Food is a restaurant/bakery chain that offers healthy meals at affordable prices. We offer a wide range of food from snacks to full meals for customers to choose from in our restaurants. Customers can get our service at 05 main locations around Galle city.

2. How does your business differ from other competing businesses?

Our unique identity can be defined as the total experience we provide to customers. We have provided ample parking facilities at all the restaurants. Also, we have created a calm and free environment suitable for enjoying food freely. All our food is made from the best ingredients and according to pre-tested recipes. Not only that, but our prices are also affordable for everyone.

3. What challenges have you faced in this journey and are you facing any recently?

New tax policies, increased electricity tariffs and inflation creates a significant threat to the profitability of our business. And for these reasons, it has become challenging to keep the prices of our food attractive to customers.

4. Let's talk about your future business dream, shall we?

We hope to grow vegetables to be used our food products. I believe it will be a good decision for our business.

5. How was the support received from Commercial Bank during your journey?

The most memorable relationship I have with the bank is the loan taken after the tsunami. Since then, my business has grown with Commercial Bank. Especially the past and present staff of Commercial Bank's Galle Fort branch contributed immensely to our success story.

6. What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

My advice is to be more cautious in every step you take. Before any new move, it is essential to do proper research and consider external and internal factors as much as possible. Also, it is important to meet your bank with your plans and talk to them and get the necessary support.
